Manchester United have reportedly sent scouts to watch Atletico Madrid ace Saul Niguez, with an eye on making a transfer at the end of the current campaign, according to the Metro.
Niguez was brought back to Atletico after an impressive year on loan with Rayo Vallecano last season, but has found it tough breaking into the first team at the Vicente Calderon, starting only six La Liga games.
This has therefore alerted Man United, who sent scout Jim Lawlor to watch the Spaniard play against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League round-of-sixteen clash last week.
But despite Niguez being substituted at half time due to an injury, it is expected that the Red Devils are still keen on his services, and will attempt to sign the 20-year-old this summer.
‘Saul’ has a £17.4million buy-out clause in his contract, but it could be negotiated down as the midfielder shares the same agent – Jorge Mendes – with United stars David de Gea and Radamel Falcao.
