Manchester United star baffled by poor season

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has admitted that he is confused by the team’s poor season under David Moyes, as reported by Sky Sports.

United have no chance of qualifying for the Champions League for next season and are facing a real battle to grab a Europa League spot with Everton and Tottenham.

Moyes has struggled in his first season at Old Trafford despite signs of a resurgence lately.

De Gea is struggling to see why the champions have been so poor at times this season and just why their form in Europe has been superior to that of the Premier League.

“It’s hard to say why. There’s no particular reason for it,” De Gea said.

“But we’ve certainly played better and been more consistent in Europe than in the league.

“They’re two different competitions and things haven’t gone well in the league, but the Champions League is a special competition, the team have done well.

“It’s been quite a tough period for us in the league and we were down after the defeats to Liverpool and (Manchester) City.

“But we are United and we must lift ourselves and fight.”
