Manchester United star set for crunch talks

Wayne Rooney

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is set for crunch talks with new boss David Moyes when the club return from their pre-season tour, according to the Independent.

Rooney was apparently angered and confused by Moyes’s comments last week claiming that the striker is merely back up for main man Robin van Persie.

The England striker is adamant that he wants to leave Old Trafford but the Red Devils are refusing to accept that request and want to speak with the player’s agent Paul Stretford next week.

Moyes, Stretford and Rooney are all hoping to sort the situation out with Chelsea and Arsenal keen to take the former Everton striker to London this summer in a deal that could be worth around £30million.

United claim that Rooney has misunderstood Moyes’ comments from last week and that the striker is a key member of their squad for next season.

Another transfer request may be the only route for Rooney out of the North West and another bid from Chelsea may test the resolve of the club.
