Manchester United star Rafael da Silva is hoping he can fight for his place and make his way out of manager Louis van Gaal’s plans for a second squad overhaul, Mirror reports.
The 24-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular role on the right side of defence under the Dutchman this season.
In addition to a drop in form, he has been picking up a number of injuries that have kept him sidelined for a majority of the season, seeing Antonio Valencia take his place on the flank.
Rafael is still determined to win back his position, but may eventually be forced to leave due to the two right-backs United are being linked with.
First choice target Nathaniel Clyne is heavily tipped to leave Southampton at the end of the campaign to complete a dream move to Old Trafford.
Barcelona’s Dani Alves is also being tracked, as Van Gaal may have the opportunity to sign him on a free transfer given that he decides to play out his Camp Nou contract this season.
