David de Gea is to have his £30 million release clause activated by Real Madrid this summer, Guillem Ballague told Sky Sports.
After his excellent performance against Liverpool on Thursday night, De Gea may have thought that he could put last summer’s rumours behind him. However, Ballague has reported that Real Madrid will come again for the Manchester United stopper and will activate the £30 million release clause in his contract as they look to bring in a long-term replacement for Iker Casillas.
Casillas left Madrid last summer and, as Real failed to take De Gea to the Bernabeu on deadline day, they have been left with Keylor Navas as first choice. Navas has had an excellent season and will be rightly disappointed to hear that Madrid are looking to replace him.
Louis van Gaal will be fearing that his entire summer business will be dictated by Real Madrid’s pursuit of De Gea once more and it looks as though the Red Devils will be in the market for another goalkeeper.
