Chelsea youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek is considering a new contract despite interest from Manchester United, according to reports from the Express.
Loftus-Cheek managed to score his first senior goal for the club against Scunthorpe this past weekend, and his performance has convinced the Blues coaching team to keep him at Stamford Bridge.
The 19-year-old will be out of contract at the end of the season, and his potential availability alerted Man United amid previous uncertainty surrounding his future.
However, it seems that Loftus-Cheek will remain with the Blues following his recent performance, with the management team prepared to up his salary to £40,000-a-week.
The midfielder was publicly slammed by former boss Jose Mourinho when he featured last summer, but seems to be thriving under interim manager Guus Hiddink, who revealed he will give youngsters the chance to impress.
He said: “We have these youngsters and I know them now after three to four weeks and I know their abilities and when it’s a possibility, an option I don’t hesitate to bring them in.
“It was a lovely clean finish. He [Loftus-Cheek] waits, he waits, he waits and he comes in at the right moment.
“He can be of big value now. He’s 19 (but) I thought he was 22, 23 when I came in, he’s a proper grown player already but he’s 19.”
Loftus-Cheek has made seven senior appearances this term, scoring one goal and supplying one assist.
