Manchester United unrivalled in pursuit of French superstar

Manchester United have received a boost in their pursuit of Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, with Real Madrid looking unlikely to rival them with a bid.

Zinedine Zidane has been quoted by talkSPORT as saying whilst he is a fan of the fellow Frenchman, he is happy with his current group of players:

“I am happy with the squad I have got and it’s difficult to improve on it,” Zidane acknowledged at a press conference.” Said the 44-year-old.

“Do I like Pogba? Of course, he’s a very good player and every club wants the best players, but right now he’s at Juve and we have a large squad already.”

United have been linked with a move for the Juventus man all summer, with a deal still not reached between the two clubs over his return to Old Trafford.

The 23-year-old only made three Premier League appearances before leaving the Red Devils on a free transfer, but could now return to England, breaking the world transfer record in the process, if the two clubs can agree on a deal.

And the news that Real Madrid look unlikely to fight for the Juve star will surely please manager Jose Mourinho.
