Spanish club Athletic Bilbao have confirmed via Twitter that they have rejected a bid for highly rated midfielder Ander Herrera, believed to be from Manchester United.
The Red Devils made the ambitious £25million bid for the Bilbao born playmaker on Friday but they will have to up their efforts if David Moyes is to finally land a midfield target.
Moyes has seen attempts to sign Cesc Fabregas, Luka Modric and Marouane Fellaini all dismissed this summer as he struggles to adapt to life with big money to spend at Old Trafford.
Herrera is set to be added to that list as United try to avoid desperation in the final few days of the transfer window.
Athletic Bilbao tweeted on their official Twitter account: “There is an offer for Ander Herrera. We received it yesterday and we have informed that we will not negotiate for our players”
Urrutia continued, “Our club is different. We create an emotional bond. Our objective is not to make money.”
“For that a player should leave he needs to state his intentions to leave the club and pay the buyout clause.”
