Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini insists Liverpool will be towards the top of the Premier League table this season despite their opening day defeat at West Brom.
Mancini knows more than most that a club having a new manager, new players and a new philosophy can take time to work and he feels Liverpool have a strong side this season.
“I think Liverpool will fight for the title this season because they play well,” Mancini told the Daily Mirror.
“They have bought new players, they have a new manager and they’ve changed their style of play.”
“They are coming from a game at West Brom where probably they didn’t deserve to lose, but football can be strange like this.”
“A team can have problems in the first month, like all teams when they change their manager or players. But I think they [Liverpool] still have a strong team.”
