Mark Hughes is reported to be closing in on the Stoke job as Roberto Martinez heads for Everton after leaving Wigan.
Martinez was one of the names on Peter Coates’ shortlist as he looks to replace Tony Pulis, and although it has been confirmed today that he will leave the DW Stadium, he will not be heading to Stoke.
The Spaniard tops Everton’s wanted list and he will hold talks with the Goodison Park outfit this week. It means the Potters have been forced to look elsewhere and reports claim that Hughes is closing in on the job.
Hughes held positive talks with Stoke officials at the back end of last week and it has now been claimed he will pen a rolling 12-month deal within the next 48 hours.
