Mark Schwarzer agrees Cottagers stay

Fulham manager Mark Hughes has confirmed that goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer is on the verge of signing a new contract with the club.

The 38-year-old Australian, who joined the club from Middlesbrough in 2008, was linked with a transfer to Arsenal during the summer but now appears happy to spend the rest of his career at Craven Cottage.

Hughes said: "He was obviously very flattered by the interest but we're delighted that he's decided to stay here and we can move forward now."

Schwarzer, who played in 346 games for Boro, has featured in 117 matches for Fulham.
