McCarthy rules out Doyle move amid Arsenal’s interest

Mick McCarthy has insisted that Kevin Doyle will not be leaving the club after he was linked with a move to Arsenal, the Metro reports.

The Wolves boss has moved quickly to dispel any rumours linking his star striker with a move to Emirates.

It’s thought that Arsene Wenger wants the Irishman to replace Nicklas Bendtner who is close to leaving the North London club.

However McCarthy has moved to reassure Wanderers fans that Doyle won’t be moving away from Molineux.

He said: “We have started well, but can you imagine what that would do if someone took one of my best players away – not only to me, but to all the other players, to the club? It would just rip the heart out of it.”

“Somebody like (summer signing) Roger Johnson has come here with the belief that we were keeping all our players – Jamie O’Hara is the same.

”I don’t think it’s going to happen, but I would be telling them to get lost.”

Gunners boss Wenger is a big admirer of Doyle and has previously stated how impressed he is with the striker’s intelligence on the pitch.

The Frenchman is under pressure to strengthen his squad but a move for the Wolves man now seems unlikely in light of McCarthy’s comments.
