Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish refused to be too critical of his side after they suffered a 5-1 thrashing at Manchester City.

The Blues are now without a win in their last six Premier League games, but McLeish remains content with the overall showing of his side this season.

He told the club's official website:"You can learn in defeat, just as you can in victory. Although of course you never want to lose games.

"There are lots of things we can take from the game and I'm certain we will. I'm looking for a response against Hull at St Andrew's next weekend.

"We are an evolving side, one that is developing in the Premier League. Several of these players only had Championship experience before this season and they can certainly take something from each and every match in the top-flight.

"This is a learning curve for us and what we've achieved so far this season as a whole is magnificent.

"We will keep pushing right to the end of the campaign, but whatever happens between now and May we should be proud.

"City have spent many millions of pounds on their squad and the result of that is that they have some very good players. I thought their front four players in particular were excellent."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
