Manchester United have enjoyed a remarkable run in the Premier League over the course of recent months and their League Cup success last weekend has left Jose Mourinho’s side with the chance of securing a treble.
In the Premier League though, the Red Devils will need a miracle to win the title and instead have their focus on securing a top-four spot in the standings but, despite their exceptional run, the Mourinho’s side have not managed to climb above sixth.
That could change this weekend though as victory against Bournemouth would send Manchester United into the top-four, temporarily at least, with close-competitors Liverpool and Arsenal clashing on Saturday afternoon at Anfield.
With the Red Devils clashing with a struggling Bournemouth side who are currently leaking goals, former Arsenal man Paul Merson is one of many who’s expecting a victory for the Red Devils. Making his prediction for Sky Sports, he said:
“I can’t see anything other than a Manchester United win. It looks to me like the banker of the weekend. Bournemouth are letting in goals left, right and centre at the moment.”
“On the other hand United will be full of confidence after winning the EFL Cup and will be looking to make it 17 games unbeaten in the league. I’m going for 3-0 to United and I think I’m being kind to Bournemouth with that prediction. It could be an even bigger scoreline for Jose Mourinho’s men.”
A win for United could also have drastic consequences for Bournemouth, as a defeat for Eddie Howe’s side could see them slip to 16th in the standings and they may find themselves just a single point above the relegation zone.
