The Gunners host Bayern in midweek for the Champions League last 16 game and it was the North London side that came closest to knocking the German’s out of the tournament last season, eventually losing on away goals.
Ozil, who formerly played for fellow Bundesliga sides Werder Bremen and Schalke, has major respect for Bayern and is already focussing on that game despite their tricky FA Cup with Liverpool today.
The Gunners lost 5-1 at Anfield last week and a similar performance today and on Wednesday could be season-defining.
Ozil knows it will be a tough few days for the North London club but he is looking forward to playing the best teams.
“I have huge respect for Bayern,” he told Germany’s Bild am Sonntag newspaper.
“They are even better than they were last year, but we’re not going to hide.
“Anything is possible over two legs. I’m the kind of player who loves games like these.”
