As reported by the Daily Mail, Aitor Karanka’s future with Middlesbrough is coming under scrutiny following a big argument at the training ground.
Karanka is believed to have to told close friends of how Stewart Downing was not his signing and that he is coming under increasing pressure from Steve Gibson.
Boro saw their automatic promotion chase damaged with their loss to Rotherham in midweek and Karanka has seen his side only win one of their last six away games as their form continues to dip.
The drop off of Downing’s form has coincided with Middlesbrough’s poor form and the club are risking missing out on automatic promotion if they don’t improve soon. Downing has only contributed three goals this season and it seems as though the tension around his stature at the club and Karanka’s team selection has had an adverse affect on Boro’s promotion charge.
The Mail also reported that Karanka stormed out of the training ground on Friday after an argument during a team meeting and it is uncertain how much longer he will be Boro manager.
