Millwall defender Mark Beevers has laughed off an incident where he was kicked in the back by a Queens Park Rangers fan yesterday, as reported by NewsAtDen.
The centre half was kneed in the back when Rangers fans invaded the pitch at the full time whistle yesterday, despite Millwall scoring an injury time equaliser that could well secure their survival.
Awkwardly, QPR will still have a play off semi final home leg to come, although the club have condemned supporters that entered the field of play.
Beevers knows the incident was not deliberate but is suffering the consequences now.
“I was facing towards the dugout when the fans started running on,” Beevers said.
“One of them steamed in and slipped, on his knees, and his knees went straight into my back, full force.
“I was shocked because I didn’t see him coming and I wasn’t braced for the impact. It was really sore.”
QPR are guaranteed a play off spot and Millwall should now be safe from relegation unless a major turnaround occurred on the final day of the season next Saturday.
