Jose Mourinho has dismissed reports linking Chelsea with a move for Cristiano Ronaldo, paving the way for Manchester United to sign the Real Madrid superstar, reports the Metro.
Stories of Ronaldo leaving the Bernabeu have been slowly increasing, with reports suggesting a deal is already ‘in place’ for Ronaldo to return to his former club.
And stories of a return to Old Trafford now look set only to increase further, after Mourinho ruled himself out of the race to sign the 29-year-old.
‘The relationship between Ronaldo and myself is non-existent. He plays for Real Madrid, I’m the Chelsea manager,’ he said.
‘You would not find us hanging around together. The relationship does not exist but the memories of his impact do.
‘I have to remind myself that he is a goal machine who helped me become a Liga champion, win the Copa del Rey and the Supercopa.
‘I try to keep the best memories of Cristiano Ronaldo with me and I wish him all the best in his career – especially with Portugal but also with his club.’
