Newly appointed Manchester United manager David Moyes has made dealing with Wayne Rooney his priority this summer, according to the Express.

Rooney has requested a move away from Old Trafford after a public fall out with outgoing boss Sir Alex Ferguson over his lifestyle.

The current United boss, who has his final game in charge at Old Trafford this afternoon, has not been impressed with the England strikers’ fitness and well being this season after a smoking habit came to light.

The retiring manager has made a point of this by regularly using the £30million rated striker as a substitute or bringing him off during games.

Rooney is seeking a new club in the summer but Moyes is hopeful of settling the dispute and wants to keep the striker.

The current Everton boss has had run-ins with Rooney in recent years after comments made in the strikers’ autobiography about Moyes.
