David Moyes has urged his star players to stay at Everton this summer for the good of their careers.

England Under-21 international Jack Rodwell and Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta have been linked with big-money moves to Manchester United and Arsenal respectively since the Premier League season ended two weeks ago.

Moyes wants both players to stay at Goodison Park and has cited the example of Thomas Gravesen as a warning.

The now retired Denmark midfielder left the Toffees for Real Madrid in 2004 but barely featured for the Spanish giants before returning to Merseyside three years later.

"Some of the players who have left Everton might say it was the right place for them after all," said Moyes.

"At the end of their careers, they might look back and say Everton was the best time - they enjoy it here.

"Even Gravesen, who went to Madrid, would say the same thing.

"There are lots of players who are going to look back at Everton and say they had a really good time, without winning anything obviously."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
