Liverpool target Dries Mertens has confirmed that he will not be leaving Napoli this summer, according to reports from the Daily Star.
The 28-year-old winger has attracted interest from a host of European sides with manager Brendan Rodgers said to be keen on luring him to Anfield.
However, Mertens is not likely to be one of the squad’s many new additions after he revealed his desire to stay and help his club next season.
“I’m not leaving Napoli, we’re working to finish as high as possible,” he said.
“I have three more years on my contract, I’m not moving on. I love playing for this team, the fans want me to play for Napoli.”
He was being tipped to leave the Serie A outfits this summer, but his latest revelation looks to have ended all speculation of his exit.
Rodgers’ side have been one of the more active clubs over the course of this transfer window as he prepares to fight his way back into the top four.
The Belgium international has been a key member for his side last term, featuring a total of 51 times in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing a further 11 assists.
