Newly signed Chelsea star Marco Amelia is ready to step up to the plate and help his side win the Premier League this season, according reports from the Daily Star.
The 33-year-old completed a free transfer to Stamford Bridge last week given that first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will be out with an injury until at least December.
He will now serve as backup to Asmir Begovic who has been filling the void left due to the absence of the Belgium international.
Amelia accepted the terms of his transfer which will see him play until at least the end of the current campaign and is likely to be on the bench for the upcoming game against Aston Villa.
The former AC Milan keeper revealed that he is ready to help his struggling side come out of their recent decline in form.
“I hope to win. I want to win. I’m a winner. I’ve won at all the teams I’ve played at in my career,” he said.
“Now it is a strange situation for Chelsea in the season but I think we can do better and Chelsea, in January or February, will stay with the first team in the season.”
The Blues are currently sitting in 16th place after picking up four losses from their previous eight Premier League matches.
