New Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told the club hierarchy that he wants to sign FC Porto star Ruben Neves, according to reports from the Metro.
Neves has been heavily linked with a move away from the Estadio do Dragao in recent weeks, with Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Barcelona all keen on his services.
However, the Reds are set to join the race for the highly-coveted 18-year-old after Klopp informed the board that he wants to bring the Portuguese to Anfield.
Although Klopp previously revealed he likes the current squad and won’t spend much in the transfer market, it seems the former Borussia Dortmund gaffer believes Neves would be a fine addition to the Liverpool midfield and a player for the future.
Neves could therefore be subject of a January bid, but it seems Porto will not accept any offer below the player’s £29million buy-out clause.
The youngster made 37 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring one goal.
