Newcastle are believed to be confident of holding onto their key striker Demba Ba despite interest from Rubin Kazan, The Daily Mail state.
The Senegalese forward caused quite a stir in his first season at the Tyneside club, scoring 16 goals and forming a formidable partnership in attack with countryman Papiss Cisse.
However, it has been revealed that Ba has a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave should a fee of £7 million be offered.
Despite links to a number of clubs this summer, there has been nothing concrete in terms of a deal to see Ba leave, but Russian media have claimed that Rubin are in the process of negotiating terms for the African hitman.
However, it is thought that the eastern European reports are false, and that Alan Pardew is confident that Ba will be at the club for 2012-13.
Ba’s release clause expires at the end of July.
