Newcastle United have emerged as favourites to land 24-year-old Frenchman Benjamin Corgnet, according to TalkSport. Alan Pardew is reportedly determind to secure Corgnet’s signature and leads over Premier League rivals Arsenal in the chase to land Dijon’s star midfielder.
Corgnet, has impressed so far in Ligue 1, and was Dijon star man in their promotion last season and the midfielder has been attracting interest from across Europe, but according to French radio station RMC Sports, it’s the Magpies who lead the chase.
Pardew has already shown his knowledge of French football with the signings of Yohan Cabaye, Hartem Ben Arfa and Sylvian Marveaux all helping Newcastle to an impressive 6th place in the Premier League, and with Europe seeming an almost certainty in Tyneside next season, it will make them a tempting offer for the highly rated midfielder.
Newcastle face interest from other Premier League clubs Arsenal and Liverpool, but is widely thought Newcastle which make an offer to sign Corgnet come the end of the season.
