Newcastle United’s chief scout – the man responsible for bringing the likes of Yohan Cabaye and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa to St. James’ Park in recent seasons – has been spotted on an apparent talent scouting mission for Seville’s Kevin Gameiro.
According to reports from the Mirror, the Tynesiders have long been admiring the French striker who is thought to be valued at around £10 million.
As Newcastle have certainly made no secret of their desire to sign French talents in the past few years, Gameiro would likely fit in well among some of his compatriots already plying their trade in the North East.
The club will have to fight off reported interest from Liverpool in their search for a new striker however, as Brendan Rodgers is also thought to be keen on the player from his time at PSG.
Such a move would seem unlikely for the Reds though – but as Newcastle are still yet to source themselves a well-established manager since Alan Pardew’s shock departure earlier this season – perhaps signing talents such as Kevin Gameiro will go down as a task much easier said than done for the Magpies.
