Newcastle United are considering a move to sign former Chelsea star Ashley Cole amid links that he could leave Roma in January, Express reports.
The 34-year-old left Stamford Bridge at the end of the 2013-2014 campaign and was immediately snapped up by the Serie A giants on a free transfer.
However, Cole has seen very limited game time so far this season and could leave in the winter window given that he was left out of the 21-man Champions League squad by manager Rudi Garcia.
Another factor that could force his exit is that he is yet to make a single appearance this term, with the Magpies now keen on adding the experienced left-back into their ranks.
He looks to have lost his place in the squad to Lucas Digne, who completed a loan move to Italy from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain during the previous window.
The defender was also previously linked with a switch to Newcastle this past summer, but decided to reject a return to the Premier League.
