Newcastle Captain, Fabricio Coloccini has suffered a hamstring injury while on international duty with Argentina. The Independent reports.
Alan Pardew will hope the Toon defender is fit for the Premier League clash away at Everton on September 17.
He is already struggling with defensive options, as Ryan Taylor will out of action for several months with a cruciate ligament injury; James Perch is suffering from a neck problem and Danny Simpson injured his hamstring in the 1-1 draw against Aston Villa.
Coloccini will stay with the squad for treatment, as the two-time World Cup winners take on Paraguay tonight before travelling to Peru on Tuesday in the 2014 qualifiers.
An Argentina Football Association statement said: “Coloccini will travel with the squad to continue treatment with the team doctor.”
But despite remaining with the squad, Coach Alejandro Sabella has called up Leandro Desabato as a replacement.
Argentina are currently third in the South American qualifying group just two points behind leaders Chile.
