Swansea City have accepted a £12million offer from Newcastle United for Jonjo Shelvey, according to reports from talkSPORT.
Shelvey has been heavily linked with a move away from the Liberty Stadium this past week, and the speculation only increased when the England international was seen arguing with fans following their 3-2 defeat against Oxford United on Sunday.
And it seems that the Swans did not hesitate to get rid of the former Liverpool midfielder, accepting a £12million bid from the Mapgies.
The 23-year-old is set to undergo a medical on Tuesday afternoon and if passed will see him become Newcastle’s second January signing following the capture of Henri Saivet from Bordeaux.
The Swans have struggled for much of this season, and Swansea manager Alan Curtis is expected to reinvest the £12million in the market instantly in order to keep the Welsh club in the Premier League.
Shelvey has made 19 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring one goal.
