Newcastle United have joined the race to sign under-fire Tottenham Hotspur star Andros Townsend, according to reports from the Mirror.
The 24-year-old’s future at White Hart Lane is in serious jeopardy after a bust-up with fitness coach Nathan Gardiner at White Hart Lane.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino decided to drop the winger from the first team after the altercation as he is now being tipped for an exit in January.
Townsend has now been sent to train with the Under-21 squad and is expected to miss the North London derby against Arsenal on Sunday after also being left out of his team’s Europa League win yesterday.
Apart from the Magpies considering a move for the England international, West Bromwich Albion, Sunderland, and Aston Villa are also monitoring his situation ahead of the winter transfer window.
It is believed that his recent bust-up was caused by frustration towards Pochettino over his lack of playing time.
He is yet to start a single Premier League game this term, featuring a total of only 64 minutes from three substitute appearances so far.
