Newcastle United are said to be preparing a £7million offer in their efforts to sign Everton target Jannik Vestergaard from Werder Bremen, according to reports from the Metro.
The 23-year-old has already been scouted by Magpies staff over the summer as they look to reinforce their defence heading into the second week of the Premier League campaign.
Despite only joining from Hoffenheim during the January window, the centre-back is believed to be keen on completing a move to the English top flight in order to further develop as a player.
The Denmark international is currently valued by his club around the £7million region, with Newcastle also facing competition from the Toffees.
Everton are looking for potential additions to their defence amid speculation that champions Chelsea were ready to lure John Stones to the Stamford Bridge this summer.
Vestergaard featured 15 times since his arrival at Bremen during the turn of the year and has also managed to find the back of the net on one occasion.
