Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez wants to sign Everton left-back Brendan Galloway, according to The Sun.
The Tyneside outfit have been busy in the transfer market over the off-season, with the Spanish coach insisting that a host of new players arrive at St James’ Park as a pre-cursor to him staying.
Galloway has put in some impressive performance since breaking into the Toffees first team but has a lot of competition to play for Ronald Koeman’s men.
Both Leighton Baines and Brian Oviedo are international players that covet the full-back role and as such it remains to be seen just how much football the youngster will receive on Merseyside in 2016-17.
Newcastle started Paul Dummett at left-back in the club’s first game in The Championship on Friday night, with this an area that Benitez is believed to be keen to reinforce.
Galloway is a former England under-19 international despite being born in Zimbabwe and has featured in 17 Premier League games for Everton in his short career to date.
