Incoming Newcastle United director of football Joe Kinnear is hoping to ward off potential bidder of midfielder Yohan Cabaye by slapping a £25million asking price on his head, according to the Daily Star.
Despite not finding his top form last season, Cabaye is still a key player at St James’ Park and Kinnear wants to keep hold of him this summer to please the manager and the fans rather than making Mike Ashley a quick buck.
The 27 year old has openly stated that he wants to stay in the North East but a big money move to a big club playing in the Champions League could be too hard to turn down this summer.
The Toon only paid £4.5million for their star man two years ago and so would see a real profit if they were to cash in this summer but the £25milllion tag is set to scare off any interested parties.
