Newcastle are yet again trying their hand at signing Lille right back Mathieu Debuchy, as Inter Milan have also announced their interest in signing the 27 year old reports the Daily Mirror.

The Magpies pursuit of Debuchy has been one of this summers ongoing transfer sagas, and having initially had a £4 million bid for his services turned down, they have now upped their bid to £6 million plus add-ons.

Inter are eager to hijack the bid however, as they still face losing Brazilian right back Maicon, who remains subject to speculation regarding moves to either Chelsea or Real Madrid.

Debuchy impressed forFranceat Euro 2012 when covering for the injured Bacary Sagna, and has been a Newcastle target ever since. Lille president Michel Seydoux is full of praise for his right back, and stated of his potential move away from the Ligue 1 outfit; ‘Our price is £6 million, because he is a quality player and we need to find a good replacement in the transfer market.’

Alan Pardew will be eager to further strengthen his Newcastle side who were last seasons surprise package following some fantastic transfer market purchases. So far it has been a frustrating summer at St James Park, so the pursuit of Debuchy must result in success soon.
