Newcastle United boss admits squad pace can overcome Man United

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew revealed that even if it will be hard to replicate their famous victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford last season, his squad’s pace may cause them problems, Daily Star reports.

The Magpies have lost their last two Premier League matches after they ended Chelsea’s unbeaten start as they set their sights on causing another upset against the Red Devils.

Pardew believes that the pace on his team’s counter attacks may be a cause for concern when he goes head-to-head with Louis van Gaal this afternoon.

“We’re a very different team to last year,” he said. “Back then, we were about possession football with Cabaye in the No. 10 role.

“We haven’t got that type of player now. We’re not going to be able to dictate like we did that day.

“We’ve got different attributes. We have good pace on the break so at times Manchester United could struggle.”
