Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew will be attempting to sign a new centre-back in order to add some stability to his back-line after Papiss Cisse looks to have started a scoring run, Daily Star reports.
The 29-year-old has now scored four goals in three appearances, but is still unable to help his manager get out of the team’s poor start to the season.
Pardew is yet to register his first Premier League win of the new campaign, picking up four draws and three losses as his side sit dangerously in 18th place.
He is now said to be targeting an English-style centre-back with West Ham United’s James Tomkins topping his list as the pairing of Fabricio Coloccini and Mike Williamson still unable to find form.
This slump has put a lot of pressure on the Magpies’ boss as his side host newly promoted Leicester City in two weeks and will need to start picking up three points or add further misery to the fans as well as the board.
