Despite a good run of form in recent weeks, Newcastle United may be facing an injury crisis after Jak Alnwick becomes the third goalkeeper to be added to the club’s injury list, Daily Mail reports.
Alan Pardew is said to have launched an appeal to the Premier League in hopes of signing an emergency loan as he is reluctant to call upon 17-year-old Freddie Woodman for the clash with Sunderland.
Alnwick now joins first choice Tim Krul and second choice Rob Elliot on the sidelines with the Magpies boss revealing he may be allowed to bring in adequate backup.
“The rules do allow you have to an emergency loan if you have only one fit professional keeper,” said Pardew.
“There is not a lot of time for recovery with Sunday in mind and there is no way a 17-year-old can go in goal in the Premier League.
“I feel for Jak. It’s a cruel game and he’s really in the firing line at the moment.”
