Newcastle United are keen to sign Ipswich star Tyrone Mings, according to the Daily Mail.
The Magpies have recently mooted their interest in signing the defender, but will have to fend off any interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal.
However Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy will do everything possible to keep Mings at Portman Road, with the 21-year-old putting in some brilliant performances over the last year.
His displays have not only alerted the likes of the Gunners and Newcastle, with the English FA sending scouts to see whether he can perform for the country on an international level.
Mings, who has no caps for England, will have to continue his good form in order to push for a move or represent the Three Lions.
But Newcastle are already prepared to bring Mings to St. Jame’s in the current transfer window, as they fear there could be even more competition for his signature come summer.
The former Southampton youngster has played 23 games for Ipswich this season, providing three assists.
