Newcastle United are targeting Anderlecht striker Aleksandar Mitrovic in the January transfer window, Mirror reports.
The Serbian was the hero for Anderlecht in their dramatic 3-3 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates last week, in which he got the equalizing goal after being three-nil down.
This has alerted the recently rejuvenated Magpies, who are searching for a striker despite Spanish youngster Ayoze Perez’s good form of late.
Mitrovic, at just 20 years of age, is already making a name for himself in the Belgian league, scoring an impressive 11 goals in just 20 matches in all competitions this season.
The young striker will have his contract expire in 2018 but Newcastle believe they can lure Mitrovic over if they pay Anderlecht a fee of around £5million.
The Toon Army are currently on a great streak winning five consecutive matches, with their next game a Premier League clash against relegation battlers Queen Park Rangers at St. Jame’s Park on November 22.
