Reports suggest Newcastle United youngster Nile Ranger could be heading to Blackpool on loan.

Several Championship teams have also been linked with the England Under-19 forward but the Seasiders have now emerged as the favourites to secure his services.

Blackpool have also been linked with the former Newcastle striker Marlon Harewood, who is currently a free agent.

Nineteen-year-old Ranger has found the net twice for the Magpies in seven starts and 23 substitute appearances for the club.

Meanwhile, Marseille president Jean-Claude Dassier has cooled talk of Hatem Ben Arfa moving to St James' Park.

It had been reported that the French side had agreed to let the player move to Tyneside on loan, but Dassier said: "Newcastle are interested but, as of today, no agreement has been concluded."
