No Fiorentina interest in Insua

Fiorentina chief executive Sandro Menucci has rubbished reports that have linked the Serie A outfit with a bid for Liverpool defender Emiliano Insua.

The left-back is reportedly interesting the Viola, but Menucci has played down the rumours while remaining quiet on transfer speculation regarding Sebastian Frey, Alberto Gilardino and Juan Manuel Vargas.

Menucci said:"Interest for Insua? I don't even know him. It is the first day of the market and a bit too soon for this.

"The players who are unsellable are those indicating their wish to stay and show attachment to the jersey.

"Gilardino has shown it and he remains in Florence. Vargas and Frey? They're on holiday, there is nothing to clarify with them.

"The team is competitive, we are almost okay, sports director Pantaleo Corvino will do what must be done."
