Schalke have distanced themselves from reports linking Kevin Kuranyi with a January transfer to Birmingham City.
Kuranyi's current deal is due to expire in the summer and the 27-year-old was believed to have been offered a big-money contract by the St Andrew's-based outfit.
However, the Bundesliga club's coach, Felix Magath, said of the rumours: "I have received nothing from Birmingham City (for Kevin Kuranyi)."
Blues boss Alex McLeish has been handed a massive January transfer window war chest by the club's new owners and sees his strikeforce as the main area that needs strengthening.
The Blues have scored just 20 goals in their 20 Premier League matches to date, although that has been enough to lift them up to eighth in the table.
