Norwich confirm striker signing

Sporting Kansas City striker Kei KamaraNorwich have confirmed that Kei Kamara will join the club on loan from MLS side Sporting Kansas City, after the Sierra Leone international was granted a visa.

The Canaries had previously agreed to bring the 28-year-old to the Premier League during the latter stages of the January transfer window.

However, the deal was delayed with the striker needing to secure clearance to play in England.

This request has now been granted, and Norwich confirmed on their official website that Kamara has signed for the club:

“City are pleased to confirm forward Kei Kamara has been granted a visa to come and play for Norwich City on loan from Sporting Kansas City until May 6.

“The 28-year-old Sierra Leone international will fly into the UK to join his new Canary team-mates over the next 24 hours and will be available for selection for Saturday’s Barclays Premier League clash against Fulham at Carrow Road.”

Norwich manager Chris Hughton openly chased a number of forward players last month, in a bid to add some much needed firepower to his squad.

Celtic rejected multiple bids for Gary Hooper, but the East Anglians managed to bring in Leeds’ Luciano Becchio.

But, the ex-Newcastle manager is adamant that Kamara is not just an alternative and is confident that he will prove to be a wise addition:

“I think he’ll give us another dimension in the forward area.” He is quoted by the Daily Mail.

“He’s a player that’s done very, very well in the MLS over the last few seasons, scored a lot of goals, a lot of assists.

“From what I’ve seen of him, we’re not just taking an average player from that division.”
