Norwich line up bid for former Barcelona striker

MAXI

Norwich City boss Chris Hughton is set to continue his big spending this summer by adding former Barcelona forward Maxi Lopez to his Canaries side, according to talkSPORT.

Lopez was widely thought of as one of the hottest prospects in world football when he broke through at the Nou Camp but has fallen away and not hit the heights in recent seasons.

The 29 year old has spent time on loan at AC Milan and Sampdoria in recent seasons but is contracted to Catania who are willing to sell the striker for a fee of around £3.5million.

West Ham failed with a bid to try and bring in the Argentinean to England last season but it appears Norwich are making a better fist of it this summer.

Hughton has already a number of big name signings to his squad this summer including Leroy Fer, Ricky van Wolfswinkel and Nathan Redmond from Birmingham City as they look to move their way up the Premier League table after a poor end to the 2012/13 season.
