The Canaries are being linked to the 25-year-old former Standard Liege star – who has been in and out of the Porto side since his 2011 move to the Dragao.
Porto paid £12.5million for Defour and Standard teammate Eliaquim Mangala, but while Defour has only made 25 league starts in two seasons, Mangala has gone on to be regarded as one of the best defenders in Portugal.
Porto are already committed to bringing in Mexican midfielder Hector Herrera in the summer and his arrival would make it even tougher for Defour to establish himself in the side who look set to be crowned Portuguese champions this weekend.
Norwich shocked their Premier League rivals when they agreed a deal to sign Sporting hitman Ricky van Wolfswinkel in March and a move for Defour would underline the ambition shown by that signing.
