Nottingham Forest keeping tabs on Abdoun

Olympiacos midfielder Djamel AbdounSouthampton and Nottingham Forest seem interested in Olympiacos midfielder Djamel Abdoun, according to Greek media.

The Algerian international is said to be certain to leave last year’s Greek champions, apparently telling a fan yesterday to take a ‘last picture’ with him.

The 27-year-old was last season’s MVP in the Greek Super League and plays on either flank; however he mostly played on the left for Olympiacos.

He has had 50 appearances for the Red-Whites, scoring nine goals, including one at the last Champions League against Shalke, and has won two doubles with the Greek team. He has also made 11 appearances with the Algerian national team.

He is a very skilful player, a good dribbler, excellent technique. He has previously spent time in England, having spent time on loan to Manchester City in 2007 but only made one appearance for the Citizens in an FA Cup win against Southampton.

It was rumoured that Nottingham were also interested in Abdoun’s fellow countryman and teammate, Rafik Djebbour. However, the transfer of last season’s top scorer of the Super League did not go any further.
