Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has backed Charles N’Zogbia for a shock international future with England.
The 23-year-old winger played for France’s Under-21s side earlier on in his career, but could be tempted to apply for dual nationality, a move which would see him eligible for Fabio Capello’s future plans.
Martinez commented:“I asked Charles the other day about England. I think he would consider it and is open to playing for England.
“I thought he wanted to play for France, but I think he’s been living in England so long now that he’s ready to represent whichever country asks him.
“He’s only 23 and hasn’t peaked yet in his career, but Charles has certainly got the potential to get into the England squad.
“When you have got the consistency that N’Zogbia has shown this season as a wide player, it shows you are ready for a big challenge.”
