Odds slashed on Manchester City signing Sanchez

With the transfer window due to close on Thursday, bets are being placed here, there and everywhere on players potentially moving clubs.

One man who has dominated the transfer gossip columns this summer is Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez, who has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City.

Bookmaker Sky Bet have the North-West outfit as favourites to nab the Chile international’s signature, with the odds moving from 1/2 to 4/9 throughout the day.

The shift in the betting market comes after numerous media outlets, including BBC Sport, reported that City are determined to make a move for Sanchez before this week’s deadline.

Pep Guardiola is understood to be willing to use Raheem Sterling in a player-plus-cash deal that would result in the former Liverpool winger moving to the Emirates.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has maintained that Sanchez will not be leaving the club this summer, but the player’s unwillingness to sign a new contract speaks volumes.

The 28-year-old is currently in the final year of his deal, which means that he could leave the club for free at the end of the season.

It would be a huge blow for Arsenal to lose him without getting any financial boost given his influence in the team.

Last season, Sanchez scored 24 goals and produced 10 assists in the Premier League.
