In-form Watford striker Odion Ighalo has stated that he does not want to leave Vicarage Road in January and is committed to the club.
The Nigerian forward has been a revelation in the Premier League this season, scoring 14 goals and firing the Hornets into an enviable top-half place in their first campaign back in the big time.
Transfer rumblings have started to surface linking Ighalo with other clubs, with Atletico Madrid believed to be keeping a close eye on the African marksman.
Despite the potential for bids from suitors over the next month, the 26-year-old has stated that he will not be leaving Vicarage Road and is committed to finishing the season with Watford.
“I want to finish the season strongly with Watford and prove that we have a good bunch of players here,” BBC Sport quote him as saying.
“When the focus is on a strong finish, transfer talk will not get to you.
“I haven’t really bothered myself about statistics because I’ve always had my feet on the ground and I never forget where I come from.
“I am just focused on getting better, doing things right on the pitch and being myself on the pitch.”
Ighalo has struck up an excellent understanding with strike partner Troy Deeney, with the pair continuing the form that saw Watford promoted from the Championship last season.
The Nigerian scored against Tottenham in his side’s last game, but Watford were beaten 2-1.
