Manchester United youngster Matthew Olosunde has branded Antonio Valencia "a real inspiration", and revealed that he 'looks up to' his Red Devils teammate.

Olosunde, 19, joined Man United from New York Red Bulls in January 2016, and whilst the American international is yet to make his debut for the English giants, he did travel with the first team for the Premier League games against Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur last term.

Valencia, on the other hand, has now completed eight full seasons for Man United, making 291 appearances in all competitions following a move from Wigan Athletic in 2009.

Valencia was also handed the captain's armband for spells of last season, and Olosunde has paid tribute to the 31-year-old for his credentials both on and off the field.

Olosunde told Man United's official website:

"He is a real inspiration. Bombing forward but also being great defensively. I really look up to him. When I watch him play, I just think I appreciate he's a great player and a great marking point to reach for. He's a big guy and so strong."

Man United, who won the League Cup and Europa League last season, will begin their pre-season preparations with a tour of the United States next month.
